Shoreline Stabilization

Shoreline stabilization basically means a method of protecting the shoreline or embankments from erosion. There are two basic types of shoreline stabilization; Hard/Structural and Soft/Non-Structural. Often a combination of the two may be utilized depending upon existing conditions. The most common shoreline erosion control is a stone, or rip-rap, embankment protection. Stone protection can also be mixed with plant materials to soften the look and often create an aesthetically appealing enhancement to the lake, pone, stream, or river.

Shoreline erosion is a slow, continuous problem that people don’t even notice until it has developed into a severe situation.
